Harbor House is seeking an experienced, dynamic individual to maintain a safe, nurturing, developmentally appropriate environment for the children of domestic violence victims residing at a domestic violence agency. In addition, duties include providing hands-on activities, implementation of curriculum and general facility/classroom cleaning. When necessary the Children's Advocate is responsible for providing crisis intervention, information, and referral to victims of domestic violence. Uses agency van to provide transportation to residents and assists shelter residents in meeting their physical needs.
Education and Training:The ideal candidate will have a minimum High School diploma or GED, CDA, 45 hour DCF training, CPR/First-Aid. This position will require employees to pass the State of Florida requirements for child care providers.Professional or non-professional experience may be substituted for formal education at the discretion of the Chief Executive Officer.
Other Job Requirements: This position requires the knowledge of basic child growth and development; indicators of abuse; ability to respond to children and adults in crisis; to lift and hold 40-pound children; to learn the dynamics and effects of domestic violence on children and adults.Basic computer skills are required. A current, valid Florida drivers' license and a safe driving record are required for this position. Must pass a pre-employment drug and background screen and attend a three day training to become CORE certified.
Experience: A Minimum of one years' experience in the early childhood field is required.
